This years Oscar styles were all about metallics, bright colors and sleek lines.  Kerry Washington wore a stunning gown by Miu Miu while Jennifer Anniston wore this effortless and vibrant gown by Valentino.  As these starlets walked the red carpet, all I could think of was some of our very similar gowns in our prom and evening wear section at Shades of White Bridal Fashions.  Yes, you can get the look that your favourite actresses at the Oscars wore, right here in Victoria!  The gowns are sure to make a statement at any event.

Wedding Wednesdays

This weekend Shades of White participated in the semi-annual Bridal Fair held at the beautiful Crystal Gardens.

This event had everyone from Photographers, Hairstylists, Florists, Venues etc. that you would hope to meet while wedding planning.  We had the pleasure to take part in a fabulous fashion show coordinated by the very lovely and very talented Bonnie Pollard.  The excitement didn't stop there as we had the amazing opportunity to dress a special guest; Bianka Kamber from the Bachelor Canada.  As she too is a new bride-to-be, it was her very first time trying a Bridal Gown on!  She was a true gem and very sweet to work with!

As we looked at a few options for the fashion show, I pulled out this exquisite gown by Maggie Sottero known as "Rhianna Royale".  Bianka was a doll and was willing to try on any gown we suggested.  As I finished lacing her in, she walked over to the mirror and like many brides she stared at herself in awe.  I believe it was a very special moment for her and I am so thankful that I was able to share it with her.

Myself and the Shades of White team would love to give a big Thank You to Bianka Kamber, a stunning bride-to-be, for modelling our gown in the fashion show!  We wish you and your fiancé all the best for years to come - you are truly a magical couple!

For all the beautiful woman out there I want to celebrate this week for 'Valentine's Day'!

For this day I wanted to ask everyone what their Valentine means to them - and I thought I would post a poem that would mean something to everyone!
